2005, Freeport, Bahamas: Grand Bahama Power Company Ltd.,
jointly owned by Mirant and ICD Utilities, retained EIC to conduct a
cradle-to-grave environmental study of its electric utility plant in
Freeport, Bahamas. GBPC serves power to 45,000 island residents
in Freeport. The study entails a cradle-to-grave survey to
identify deficiencies in fuel management throughout the facility
including receiving, storage, conveyance, waste oil conveyance, and
waste disposal systems. EIC will evaluate each areas of concern
(AOC) to identify various means of engineering design improvements,
process improvements, and environmental safeguards. Based on the
study, EIC will develop a list of engineering and process improvements
to achieve increased efficiencies in fuel management which in turn
combats rising energy costs and minimizes environmental liabilities.
