2007,
Athens, GA: EIC conducted
an Environmental Assessment (EA) of the Southeast Poultry Research
Laboratory (SEPRL) of the United States Department of Agriculture
(USDA). SEPRL is located on a 32-acre parcel in Athens, Georgia.
SEPRL develops scientific solutions to national and international
exotic, emerging and endemic poultry viral diseases such as Avian
Influenza. To meet the increasing demand in this area, SEPRL is
considering renovating and modernizing the current facilities that
were built in the 1960's. Following the Council of Environmental
Quality (CEQ) guidelines, EIC will conduct an EA as required under the
National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Based on the EA, EIC
will develop a finding of no significant impact (FONSI) or recommend
preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The task
was authorized under a subcontract agreement with Merrick & Company.
