After
considerable time and effort, our research and development
team has released a new version of our popular non-aqueous
phase liquid extraction technique (NET)TM system fit
for installation in explosion-proof environments. The
NET systems utilize a specially extruded oleophilic/hydrophobic
fabric capable of adsorbing non-aqueous phase liquids
(NAPLs), also known as free-product, with a 99% efficiency.
The fabric is conveyed in a continuous loop into a monitoring
or recovery well to intercept the oil-water interface.
As the fabric travels through the interface, product
is absorbed. The absorbed product is desorbed in a stainless-steel
de-sorption unit and the recovered product is gravity
drained into a storage drum or tank. The NET systems
are fast gaining popularity as the only option for recovery
of NAPLs from subsurface environment that pose fluctuating
water-table conditions. The system can be installed for
recovery of free-product from wells as small as 2-inch
in diameter. The system can be installed in a below-grade
vault for flush-to-grade installations. Optional features
include a mini-storage tank for conveyance of the recovered
product to a remote location, telemetry, alternative
energy supply, and other ancillary services. This version
of the NET unit is equipped with a stainless steel housing
with a direct flex-coupling to minimize maintenance normally
associated with chain-drives.
