Solar-Powered
Remediation System with Remote Notification |
|
| A
large petroleum firm, based in the USA, contracted
EIC to develop a remediation system capable of operating
in a remote location. The abandoned petroleum terminal
located in New Jersey, USA, which is not served by
electric utility, is located in an urban area close
to a protected river. The New Jersey Department of
Environmental Protection (NJDEP) required a remediation
system which is not only capable of recovering liquid
phase hydrocarbons (free-product) but also specified
that the remediation system operate with optimal recovery
efficiency. EIC designed and installed a remediation
system which is capable of operating on solar power.
To ensure that the system would operate at its optimal
capacity, EIC has installed a telemetry system which
remotely notifies a sequence of contacts regarding
system alarms. The alarms include tank full, power
failure, and related operational parameters. The telemetry
system is also powered by the solar-grid. The solar
grid consisting of 10 panels is also connected to a
battery power pack for continued operation in absence
of sunshine. |
